Frequently Asked Questions

Do we do custom or bespoke conversions for vehicles not listed on our website?

Yes, we can offer bespoke conversion kits if you have a suitable vehicle. It’s best to get in touch with us via our contact page and let us know what vehicle you have and we can discuss your options.

Do I need to remove the rear seats to fit a camping conversion kit?

No. Our conversion kits are designed to be used with the rear seats fitted, you’ll need to fold the seats down when you want to use the kit.

For vehicles with a 3rd row of seats, these will need to be removed.

Do our conversion kits fit panel vans or crew vans?

The conversion kits we have in stock can also be used in commercial panel or crew vans. As the dimensions are slightly different, let us know what vehicle variant you have before you order and we’ll make sure you get a conversion that fits your van. Send us a message via our contact page to let us know what vehicle you have.

Is the plywood treated or coated?

Our conversion kits are not treated or finished. You may want to add your own finish to the surface, in which case we recommend osmo oil. You can also use any wood paint or varnish if you wish.

What’s the best van to buy for a camper conversion?

For a great balance between every day use and camping functionality, we really like the Volkswagen Caddy Life. Other similar models include the Ford Tourneo Connect, Citroen Berlingo, Peugeot Partner/Rifter. By owning one of these vehicles and pairing it with our camper conversion kit, you can have a 5 seater car with a big boot for family life, commuting or whatever else you get up to during the week, and a micro camper at the weekend!

Are there any essentials or accessories that I need for car camping?

Once you have a car and a conversion kit, you’ll also need a mattress and possibly some window blinds (more details below). We always like to take some folding chairs and table, so that you can sit outside in the sun (hopefully). If you’re planning on cooking a meal then take a stove and any pans you’ll need, plus crockery. Fairy lights are a nice touch to make your camper feel a bit more homely. Really, the size of your boot is the limit, or you could take a trailer!

Do I need window blinds for car camping?

We recommend buying window blinds with your conversion kit. They keep it darker inside the vehicle so you don’t get woken up with the sunrise at silly-o’clock in the summer months. They also give you privacy, keep the car cooler when it’s sunny and warmer when it’s cold.
